KUCHING: Air quality in Sarawak improved overnight, with only one area recording a very unhealthy air pollutant index (API) level on Tuesday morning (Sept 10).
At 8am, Sri Aman registered an API of 201, while Kuching and Samarahan saw the API dropping to 160 and 127 respectively.The API issued by the Department of Environment comprises the following categories: Good , moderate , unhealthy , very unhealthy and hazardous .
"The department has activated its Ops Topeng for the current hazy spell and distributed masks to affected schools. "As for UPSR, I understand it would be difficult to postpone the exam but all the necessary precautions have been taken.
